Manna positioning
What Manna Insect actually does — in plain language.
01 · The picture
Two partial impressions
Most people who meet Manna come away with one of two impressions: "they make insect-rearing containers" or "they sell climate-control software." Both are partial.
Manna Insect helps customers turn biowaste into a successful Black Soldier Fly business — from "is BSF the right answer for our waste?" to running an industrial-scale operation. The biology of BSF works. Building a profitable BSF operation is the hard part: substrate variability, climate stability, process discipline, and market access all have to come together.
Manna has spent eight years building the solutions that make that path easier — backed by 75+ deployments across 30+ countries and a network of qualified suppliers, partners, and buyers.
02 · The solutions
Manna's solutions in order
Manna's solutions, in the order customers usually use them:
1. BSF Business Case Service. Validate the case before committing CAPEX. Manna models the customer's country, substrate, scale, and market and gives an honest go / no-go — with the minimum viable gate fee, realistic CAPEX and OPEX, and the output mix the case can actually sustain. Most cases reject on real numbers. Better to know in two weeks than after €200K of CAPEX.
2. Facility Design & BOM. Once the case is real: what to build and where to source it. Modular reference designs from R&D unit (0.5 t/d) to multi-room production (5+ t/d), validated BOMs, qualified regional supplier networks. Two delivery paths: DIY with Manna support, or Manna turnkey.
3. Manna MIND. Smart climate + IoT platform inside every Manna-designed module. Sensors, automated control logic, smart alarms — production stays inside the right environment whether anyone is in the room or not. 75+ MIND units in operation; 4–6× more power-efficient than traditional HVAC; extensible from a single container to a multi-room industrial facility. MIND is the operating heart of the module — one solution, not the whole company.
4. Insect Farm Hub. The cloud cockpit where climate data meets production data. Real-time dashboards, batch and task logging, training (Learning Center, AI mentor), multi-site management, and a developing marketplace for starter stock, larvae, and frass.
Across all four — Expert Consultancy. Recipe questions, troubleshooting, regulatory navigation, strategic decisions. Flexible advisory at any phase.
03 · The foundation
Expertise, training and network
Underneath everything: Manna's expertise, training, and network. Software solves climate and process. The harder problems — getting BSF starter stock that works, finding processing partners, lining up buyers — need experience and relationships. 102+ qualified starter-stock suppliers, processing-equipment vendors, regional partners, and buyer leads.
Customers pick the pieces they need. Many start with one — often MIND for an R&D unit — and grow from there.
Over the coming weeks this page walks through each solution in turn, with anonymised real-case examples. Next post: Thursday.
